Narrative Summary Eugene, a self-employed writer living in a quiet rural village, spontaneously takes a day off in search of “a nice place” to have “the best day ever”—a vague desire sparked by an off-grid travel ad. Although she’s never experienced the urban stress the ad critiques, she’s drawn to the fantasy of escape and the idea of creating a memorable adventure that others would admire but never attempt. With no clear plan, she sets off in her father’s old Toyota Corolla, towing a portable cabin she impulsively bought. After boarding a ferry with a crowd of tourists, she breaks away from their predictable path, choosing solitude over sightseeing. Listening to John Coltran’s Blue Train on repeat, she arrives at a remote ocean cliff, sets up her cabin, and captures the view—only to briefly spot a strange, human-like figure floating in the sea. Fascinated and unsettled, she drives to the beach to search for it, but rising tides sweep her and the cabin into the water. After losing consciousness, she wakes up adrift, peeking out from the cabin to see fishing boats nearby. Imagining they’re also looking for the same mysterious figure, she feels an unexpected sense of connection. Though she never finds answers, Eugene is content—not with solving a mystery, but with becoming part of one.
Project Description Vacationer is a mobile cabin constructed from Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panels, with its exterior finished in a waterproof coating and rubber. Depending on which side is placed on the ground, the positions of the floor, walls, ceiling, entrance, and windows change. Rubber blocks attached to the corners absorb and disperse physical impact during repositioning.

이야기줄거리 조용한 시골 마을에 사는 프리랜서 작가 유진은 어느 날 충동적으로 하루를 쉬기로 한다. “좋은 곳”에서 “최고의 하루”를 보내고 싶다는 막연한 바람은 캠핑 여행 광고에서 시작되었다. 광고에서는 도시의 스트레스와 소외를 비판하지만, 유진은 그런 삶과는 거리가 먼 시골에서 자유롭게 살아가고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 유진은 어디론가 떠나고 싶은 환상과, 모두가 부러워할 만하지만 아무도 쉽게 따라 하지 못할 특별한 이야기를 만들어보고 싶은 욕망에 끌린다. 뚜렷한 목적지도 없이, 아버지의 낡은 토요타 코롤라에 충동적으로 산 이동식 오두막을 달고 길을 나선다. 관광객들로 가득 찬 선박을 탔다가, 도착 후에는 그들과 다른 방향으로 나아가 혼자만의 여정을 선택한다. John Coltrane의 Blue Train을 반복해 들으며 도착한 외딴 해안 절벽에서 유진은 오두막을 설치하고 바다를 바라보다, 잠깐 바다 위에 떠 있는 이상한 사람 형체의 존재를 목격한다. 그 존재에 사로잡힌 유진은 해변으로 내려가 더 가까이에서 보려 하지만, 밀려오는 파도에 휩쓸려 오두막과 함께 물에 잠기고 정신을 잃는다. 깨어난 유진은 바다 위를 떠다니는 오두막 안에서 문을 열고 밖을 내다본다. 근처에는 작은 어선 몇 척이 한가롭게 떠 있고, 유진은 그들 역시 자신이 본 존재를 찾고 있다고 상상한다. 결국 어떤 실체도 확인하지 못했지만, 유진은 그 미스터리를 공유하고 있다는 느낌 속에서 이상하리만큼 만족을 느낀다. 그녀에게 이 여행은 해답을 찾는 여정이 아니라, 미스터리의 일부가 되는 경험이었다.
프로젝트 설명 ‘행랑객’은 크로스 라미네이티드 팀버(CLT) 패널로 제작된 이동식 오두막으로, 외부는 방수재를 도포한 뒤 고무로 마감되었다. 어떤 면이 지면에 놓이느냐에 따라 바닥, 벽, 천장, 출입구와 창문의 위치가 달라진다. 모서리에 부착된 고무블럭은 재배치 시 발생하는 물리적 충격을 흡수하고 분산하는 역할을 한다.
